Key Issue: Public Lands Health & Protection
Activity Type: Education & Outreach (tabling, films & lectures, regional B-walks/works)
Short Description of Activity
Six Polly Dyer Seattle Broads joined a walk and talk organized by the local Sierra Club Public Lands committee & the Center for Responsible Forestry. Tom from the Center was our guide to the South Paw Timber sale site, a Legacy Forest, along the Tiger Mountain Trail.
Reflection/Evaluation
We learned from Tom the definition of a legacy forest and why and how to protect them. Walking in the legacy forest gave clarity to what they are and what we will be working to protect. The bonus: Tom was a mushroom gatherer. The mushroom season was blooming in full glory, we learned so much.
