Short Description of Activity
Attended the introductory event for organizations who participate in West Slope Outdoor Volunteers group. We tabled in front of Trail Life Brewery who had agreed to give WSOV a percentage of the food and drink sales for that evening. Talked to a number of people 19 people) and explained the kind of work that we often do, signed up people who were interested in our organization’s email messages, and shared experiences related to our advocacy for wild lands.
Six members of our Broadband members attended the Open house meeting that the BLM held to explain the issues related to the SEIS alternatives proposed for the Grand Junction Field Office and the GrandValley Field Office (in Silt) areas to meet the stipulations the court was asking for which was the result of a law suit. Members used the information gained at the open House meeting to write comments on the proposed changes.
Reflection/Evaluation
Tableing event went well in that we talked to a lot of people who attended, many signed up for our email messages, and we had good conversations explaining the kinds of activities and actions we take.
The BLM Open House meeting was not attended by very many members of the public so I was glad to see how many of our members attended (6) and their engagement with the various BLM staff people who were explaining different aspects of the SEIS proposals. The information they gained at this meeting probably made their written comment submissions more relevant and specific to issues of concern to themselves and to our organization.
