Short Description of Activity
Di participated in the big water lobby day at utah legislature and identified in large group as representing Broads. In small group of 5 we were called in to talk with one person’s Senator about several critical bills. Di and one other broke away and called out her Representative and spoke with him about one critical part of a bill we opposed, doing away with cost benefit analysis on water projects. Di followed up with an email to Rep Kyle the next day, again stating position and why.
Reflection/Evaluation
Goal was to speak to elected officials about specific pieces of legislation Grow the Flow identified as critical at that time and then followup as well as report results of conversation to Grow the Flow lead. If that was the goal, it was achieved. Changing their minds of the two we spoke to did not happen, but that really wasn’t the goal with these 2 particular folk.
One of the younger women, Sarah Inwood, wanted to know if she was old enough to be a Broad (yes!) and said she learned a lot from watching me interact with Rep Kyle… which was an unexpected positive!
