Short Description of Activity
Cascade Volcanoes Broad Linda Folkestad organized and facilitated a hike in the Portland area called the 4 T Trail – Trail, Tram, Trolly and Train starting out at the zoo and working its way to Council Crest. Unfortunately, there was a landslide blocking and closing off a section of the trail that led to Council Crest. We hiked the trails in Forest Park visiting the Winter Park and Hoyt Arboretum areas as an alternative.
Reflection/Evaluation
Flexibility is the key especially this time of year when weather and conditions can be unpredictable. Being spontaneous made for an enjoyable hike and surprisingly observing new spring growth popping up so early was interesting. Wonderful social time.
When trails get repaired hopefully another attempt to do this hike will happen. Portland’s Forest Park makes for a good place to hike that is easily accessible to many of the Broads.
