Main speaker Dr, Cristina Eisenberg, a community ecologist and Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence and Director of Tribal Initiatives of Natural Resources at Oregon State University’s College of Forestry.
Reflection/Evaluation
Lecture was on the Traditional Ecological Knowlege and Western Science referred to as “Two Eyed Seeing”. The importance of developing cross cultural partnerships and projects to conserve landscapes and to elevate tribal communities. ONDA presented the steps being taken to preserve Oregon’s High Desert in partnership with local tribes.
Interesting and encouraging to hear how western science is recognizing the benefit in incorporating Indigenous environmental practices and knowledge (IK-Indigenous Knowlege). I liked the concept of seeing the difference and moving away from “Ego” to “Eco”.
