Short Description of Activity
since I officially joined this native american center for culture and arts, was invited to this evening program with the executive director and highlighting indigenous artist who was recipient of grant from this center. He is especially dedicated to queer BIPOC communitities. He presented a dance and chant in his native tribal language dressed in regalia that he designed. He takes historical designs from his tribe nimipoo/nez perce-and updates them-such as beading, deer hide, headpieces. He told stories behind the models of his apparel. Learned that he and many tribal members have african american descent due to York and other influences.
Reflection/Evaluation
very informative on educational level and did some collaborative sharing with director and table mate regarding our GOB organization. Out of this, fellow broad and DEI rep Barb Fox Kilgore, decided to officially join this non profit, which can be a future partner.
