Short Description of Activity

Norwood Ranger District was accepting comments on the Telluride Mountain Club proposal to add 15 miles of new trails in FS around Telluride and rehab 5 additional miles of trail. Sallie prepared comments on issue: seasonal closures need to be set up and respected, and need to be solid physical barriers; all trails should be inventoried and determine how many miles of trails are needed; social trails need to be ided and closed if they do not meet trail standards for location and design; trails should be truly multi-use not just mountain bike trails.

Reflection/Evaluation

Nice to have a partner in BHA to notify me of commenting opportunity and assist with developing talking points. I was very surprises and distrubed that the Telluride area survey the trails group did indicated: 60% said that trails don’t impact wildlife/resource. What?
