Reflection/Evaluation

My note to Sen. Peltola went as follows:

Happy Earth Day Representative Petola!

And I am so happy with the recent administration decision to limit oil drilling in the Western Arctic (NPR-A) I am hopeful that the year ahead will see us putting funding into development of alternative, renewable energy sources. We need to put our brightest minds to developing batteries that do NOT require the so called rare earth minerals, and that are can be fully recycled, and to improving the renewable energy production methods. To this end, I hope we start at the college level, helping to fund science and technology programs that encourage our youngest minds to work on these solutions.

I also really appreciate the “No Action Alternative” recommendation in the recent Ambler Mining District Road SEIS. As a long time resident of the Western Arctic, who often worked in the Kobuk River villages, I was greatly dismayed by this proposal and the damage it would do to our subsistence resources, as well as an ages old lifestyle. I also fully applaud the new Public Lands Rule.

These recent decisions have given many of us even more reasons to celebrate today. I sincerely hope that you will stand behind them on behalf of your constituents, the residents of the great State of Alaska.

Thank you, and

Respectfully,
