Outcome 1: Clean-up (6 sites/plots)
Short Description of Activity
Drove along Devil’s Thumb Road and stopped at six different parking areas and cleaned up trash. Observed that barrier wire had been cut in one parking area and had lead to vehicle intrusion on to the dunes of the WSA. Reported to BLM my findings including pictures.
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal is to monitor the area and remove trash when possible, report to BLM when there are problems, especially that where their agency is needing to intervene. The large trash previously reported to BLM remains as there are many areas for them to deal with. There was not a lot of new trash but evidence of an increase in motorized vehicle use within the WSA over the holiday week end and barrier to entry cut. Monthly report has been sent to BLM.
