Short Description of Activity
At this Broadband meeting via Zoom, we asked Nikki Lindt to give a presentation on her artistic work. Nikki is a visual and sound artist who records and captures underground sound. Nikki will share her artistic journey of how and why she came to record these sounds all the way from the Arctic Circle to the forests of New York City. Nikki will also discuss recent, yet to be released, recordings she captured last summer inside of thawing permafrost. You can see more about Nikki’s work at nlindt.com or at theundergroundsoundproject.com.
Reflection/Evaluation
Twelve Broads attended this meeting and presentation plus me. All of us found Nikki’s work to be fascinating, and it captured our attention. Nikki actively constructs audio and visual representations of the effects of climate change. We would like to find a way for Nikki to show her work in a Pacific Northwest venue. We are trying to find such a venue.
