Short Description of Activity

We had 11 Cascade Volcanoes Broads join the Campout at Camp Wilkerson in Vernonia, Oregon for “Thriving by Hiking and Biking” July 18 – 21!

Reflection/Evaluation

The goal of the event was to just get together, talk, eat, sing, and laugh as well as tell stories. Thursday began with a potluck dinner followed by a short walk around the park. The birds woke us up on Friday where we biked along the Banks-Vernonia Bike trail. Linda led us in a great sing a long around a bogus campfire that evening. Saturday we stopped at the Visitor Center at Stubs Stewart State Park and then hiked around there for 2.6 miles. We stopped in Vernonia for a swim at the local park on the river. Unfortunately, there was a huge wedding at Wilkerson Camp on the evening and the DJ kept us up until after 10:30 after Laurie went down to the camp host to complain. We shared stories and songs together on Saturday night. The food was great and the weather cooperated until Sunday morning when it started to rain and thunder! So we headed home in the rain, so full of fond memories and photos (see attached).

The event planners included Bondi, Rosanne, Lorena, and Laurie also met on July 1st for a zoom meeting for last minute details.
