Key Issue: Water-related Conservation
Activity Type: Stewardship (monitoring, sampling, planting, etc.)
Key Partners: CPW, River Watch organization
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Stream/river sampled (4 samples)
Short Description of Activity
The sampled is the Uncompahgre River at Confluence Park before it meets the Gunnison River. This was a normal sampling event which requires taking a sample at the river that is tested for the oxygenation level, taking a second sample which will be later tested for pH, alkalinity, and hardness at my home laboratory, and then taking two additional samples, one filtered, one unfiltered, which are to be mailed to a laboratory in Denver for evaluation of metals in the water. All protocols were completed, and the data submitted online to River Watch on 7/28/24. Completed field data sheets for each protocol were copied and packed with the metal samples of this event and the prior event in June and mailed on 7/29/24.
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal is to provide reliable and consistent data to River Watch for this location. That data then is available to the public and to decision makers. This goal is being met.
