Key Partners: BLM
Landscape/area: Adobe Badlands WSA (10425 acres)
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Clean-up (6 sites/plots)
Short Description of Activity
Picked up trash in six parking areas along Devil’s Thumb Rd. There were 8 pounds of trash removed. Wrote up report and submitted it to BLM.
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal is to monitor this protected area for trash and noncompliance with rules for the WSA and to keep BLM informed. Overall, this area has less trash than it used to have. BLM has sent a truck to pick up the big trash, i.e. mattresses, that I previously reported. Tires remain, however, BLM has made effort to block intrusion on motorized vehicles, but bikes and ATVs still use the area from the physical evidence of trails across the dunes.
