Short Description of Activity
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, we partnered with our local Forest Service office to staff a table at the Teton Valley Farmers Market. We handed out maps, stickers, Broads information, Smoky Bear paraphernalia, scavenger hunt handout etc. We also had a signup sheet for next year’s solitude monitoring season, but got no takers.
Reflection/Evaluation
We got relatively few visitors during the 4 hours we tabled. Compared to the booths selling colorful vegetables, etc, our booth didn’t seem very enticing. Our giveaways were geared toward children but there weren’t many children there. An array of stuffed forest animals might have drawn some children to our table. We agreed that this was a learning experience and we’ll look for ways to make our materials more enticing.
