Short Description of Activity
Alaska Wilderness League notified all groups that AIDEA was holding an unannounced meeting to decide on whether they would approve the funding of $20,000,000 to cover bidding on leases and supporting drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The request called for a quick response, as the meeting was the next day.
Reflection/Evaluation
The objective of getting public comment in was met. However the AIDEA ignored all the public comments and did not even allow those that had called in to provide comments over the phone. They started the meeting, immediately went into executive session and then voted to approve the funds as soon as they had come out of executive session, without having any public input or discussion in front of the public.
