Meeting with the local FS regarding the ongoing issue from a local group to push for a bridge over the Deschutes River for pedistrians to the Forest Service land on the other side across a section of the Deschutes River which is a wild and scenic corridor.
Reflection/Evaluation
THis has been an ongoing situation for many years and once it goes away it once again appears. This meeting was to find out where the Forest Service is with this issue as they would have to approve this. Along with FS there are private landowners who also would have to weigh in and they have no desire to do such. FS has other priorities than to push for this bridge….and it would also require an EA at minimal or NEPA, which they do not have the funds or personel to deal with this right now. So in a not so obvious way, FS pretty much is not supporting this bridge and has the same concerns that our group has.
