Short Description of Activity
Broads visited mature forest areas in the Siuslaw National Forest that may be threatened under changes to the Northwest Forest Plan. We used a form to collect information about the trees and plants present, and our location. Everyone practiced measuring trees and recording data on the form. We plan to use this information in writing comments on the NWFP amendment this winter.
On this trip, 7 of us split up between 3 cars and we visited 7 different sites.
Reflection/Evaluation
Using digital and paper maps, we successfully found mature forest sites and documented them. People practiced skills and came away with a better understanding of the process and value in doing these forest visits. Now we just need to incorporate into our comments so people feel their time was well-spent!
