Short Description of Activity
Broads visited mature forest areas in the Siuslaw National Forest that may be threatened under changes to the Northwest Forest Plan. We used a form to collect information about the trees and plants present, and our location. Everyone practiced measuring trees and recording data on the form. We plan to use this information in writing comments on the NWFP amendment this winter.
On this trip, 3 of us drove together to find sites. We ended up recording only 2 due to issues with access.
Reflection/Evaluation
This was the second field visit trip so the process was a little smoother but we had trouble getting to some of the forest stands we wanted to visit because of road access issues and steep areas. Overall, a good trip where we practiced good skills and that will be valuable to the comment process on the NWFP amendment.
