Short Description of Activity
Forum on new rules in Central Oregon regarding our groundwater concerns. I have a personal concerns regarding groundwater issues here due to our snow pack not always what it should be year after year as well as the lack of rain we generally don’t get in the tri-county area.
Reflection/Evaluation
I was disappointed that I missed a lot of information on the tailend of this forum due to website/computer issues. What I did learn is that they gave an overview of what groundwater is and it’s importance. Discussed that new rules will have to come into place as deptys of water in wells have changed since 1994 with a decline in water in wells in Eastern Oregon. Water levels are dropping from historical levels. It costs more money to drill deeper. Waterrights currently are 1st in time, 1st in rights. The question that exists is if water is available…that being said is groundwater is not available or is over allocated should there be new permits allowed? This is when I lost the rest of the information…will follow up.
