Short Description of Activity

Ongoing advocacy related to protecting bighorn sheep from disease transmission by domestic sheep. Engaging with decision-makers; strategizing with partner organizations and individual advocates (some former agency personnel and attorneys) particularly regarding CPW Director and Commissioners about securing the health of Colorado bighorn herds.. Also much communication regarding the AW/Broads event that was to have taken place on November 14 in Durango.

Reflection/Evaluation

A Colorado Bighorn Sheep Collaborative has been formed with first meeting taking place November 7, 2024. Plan to meet monthly.
Continue to build relationship and engage in productive conversation with BLM GFO manager Jon Kaminsky.
After much deliberation and conversation with Will Shoemaker (AW) and Dan & Laurie Parkinson, the scheduled bighorn event for November 14 was postponed. A week prior to the event only 10 people had confirmed attendance and AW attorney Laurie Rule was planning to fly in from Portland, OR. Our team will regroup in the new year to plan for a late spring 2025 event perhaps in Ouray or San Miguel County.
