Short Description of Activity
Jonnie and Jeff Morris of CANM designed this buck and rail fence building project to protect the new handicap access red surfaced trail from cattle destruction. The trail surface has wax in it that the cows might try to eat. 4Corners Broadband participated on two different days to fence each side of the trail area from the parking area to the cliff edge. Jeff worked with Ute Mountain Ute partners to decide that buck and rail fencing was the most natural alternative. It’s a very pretty fence which blends with the surroundings.
Reflection/Evaluation
Our goal was to help Jeff build the fencing and we did. It was a great project for our group. We even had a bro show up to help. My goal of shared leadership is also being met because I have Project Leaders that work with the agencies to design monthly projects for group stewardship.
