Short Description of Activity
Colorado Parks and Wildlife is finalizing the Colorado Outdoors Strategy. They asked for comments on their on-line system.
Reflection/Evaluation
My goal was to continue to elevate the needs of wildlife conservation and habitat protection to balance the push for more recreation. In my comments I stated “Plan does not directly address the problem of continuing to look at project by project recreational plans-as happens with grant programs that only fund specific grantee that apply for individual projects. There should be more planning of siting all recreation in balance with needs of wildlife, landscapes and sustainable conservation. This can not be done with piecemeal projects. Need more discussion of sustainable recreation” and I also asked that better indicators be developed for equity access to recreation. .
