Short Description of Activity
Thousands gathered at the Utah State Capitol to rally for the protection of federal lands in Utah. Greater Wasatch had a table that was very popular despite very cold temperatures and light snow. We tabled for an hour before the rally began and then held our banner high and shouted out to our state leaders to keep their hands off of our public lands. Several speakers covered multiple topics with several indigenous youth and tribe leaders. Terry Tempest Williams ended the rally with a fiery speech lambasting those who want to sell of our lands to the highest bidder.
Reflection/Evaluation
Over a dozen Broads and Bros from Greater Wasatch were in attendance and two leaders from Utah’s SW Broadband joined in. It was good to see so much interest overall in protecting public lands and we added 47 names to our newsletter list-one of the best events we have tabled at in recent history. Thanks to Amy Brunvand from our leadership team who worked with SUWA on this event.
