Short Description of Activity
Broadband leader and several members met to discuss starting a potential broadband book club. We decided to go for it. Our books will focus on nature/ environment/ public lands. We will aim for gathering quarterly, with our “inaugural” meeting in late February. We initiated this because we want to offer a new activity this new year that was relatively easy to do, and that folks who might not hike as much anymore could also engage in. We also thought it was timely in terms of coming together to share food and drink, along with relevant discussions about reading material related to our shared interests, and building a deeper sense of community. We are hopeful that this book club idea will take off.
Reflection/Evaluation
Our meeting and communications went well. Two members will be instrumental in helping with this along with the Leader. Response to our email about the broadband book club was very well received, with plenty of interest. First book choice is “The Hidden Life of Trees”. We hope the book club is successful and that it may encourage more active involvement within the broadband, and may lead to other broadband activities or events as well.
