Short Description of Activity
Initiated emails to our broadband listserv focusing on advocacy for protection of our forests, several proposed state legislative bills, and in support of public lands staff given current state of affairs. An example of emails for current state legislative session bills include SB 5 (Game and Fish agency reform). We also sent an email outlining local forest service needs regarding volunteering to augment access and enjoyment of the nearby national forest, particularly relevant due to drastic cuts. This was based on priority needs communicated to us.
Reflection/Evaluation
NM SB 5 (Game & Fish agency reform) just passed both houses and after some tweaking back in the Senate will hopefully go to the Governor for signature. This is an important piece of much needed reform which will place more emphasis on all wildlife, including species in decline, etc. It is not known how many folks on our listserv may have responded to these emails and sent messages in support, but hopefully more did than what is reported in this activity report.
